When applying for any type of insurance, whether it is holiday cover, health insurance or life insurance over 50 ,it is absolutely vital that you tell the truth on your application form. It is tempting to tell a few what you believe to be harmless porkies, such as your weight or how much you smoke or drink – but if there is anything on your form which is not one hundred per cent truthful, you face severe consequences.
Every insurance company states that all answers must be truthful and fully declared, otherwise the policy can become null and void.
When applying for insurance you sign on the dotted line to say that everything you have written is to the best of your knowledge correct so it will be you that is held responsible if it is not.
However tempting it is to try to save a few pounds by being economical with the truth on what medication you are taking or what tests you have had, you have to remember that you will be caught out in the end and if you try to make a claim for some pre-existing condition that has not been declared then you will have the full wrath of the insurance company – and of the law – upon you.
So, be open and be honest and that way you will have nothing to fear.
